Joan White Howell Nature Preserve
Since you passed the spring, you have been in the Joan White Howell Nature Preserve. Joan was a descendant of the Carrie Sanders and Harry White. Her link to this place extended to 1796. She loved Clay Hill Farm and was so connected to this special place that on her death her family decided to allow Campbellsville University to become the new stewards of Clay Hill. This preserve includes about 35 acres that is of restricted use. No trees will be cut here unless they are invasive species; no lumber will be salvaged here; no new trails will be made here. This area along with adjacent land across the highway will serve as a living testement to the love that Joan and her brother Ted and their several cousins felt for this place.
Do you have a special place? If you owned it, would you give it away to keep it?
